  • After having stormed Peyrepertuse, a cooling swim can be had in the river Verdouble in the lake near the waterfall close to the village of Duilhac.

Refresh yourself at the lover’s fountain near to the Vieux Moulin hotel, where an anonymous inscription reads: ‘Quiconque en boira qu’amoureux il devienne’ (whosoever drinketh from this fountain will fall in love).

  • Languedoc. 'A region where the cooking is hearty and delicious, its history and folklore long and colourful. Unfortunately no one seems to know exactly where it is.' -- Len Deighton.

  • From "Popular tales and legends of Languedoc Roussillon"
This is a story often repeated in the Aude, and attributed to the inhabitants of Trausse. It appears that an enormous thistle grew on the bell-tower of the church. It was decided to have it eaten by an ass so they hoisted the animal up the tower attached by its neck. As it went up, the ass, strangled more and more, "The greedy one", said the Traussois, "see how it licks its lips in advance."
Needless to say that when the animal had arrived in top of the bell-tower, it was absolutely strangulated.

“In 755 the Gothic count of Narbonne, Miló, who was partial to the Francs although they were not the majority of the Goths of the city, fled the city and sheltered in Trausse, near Caunes, waiting for the fall of Narbonne so he could return as a nobleman.”

  • From "Wikipedia"
Miló of Narbonne was the Count of Narbonne, who was ruling in 752, successor probably of Gilbert. It seems that he was in favour of the Frankish, but, as there was a Muslim garrison in Narbonne, he didn't follow Ansemund, Count of Nimes in his allegiance to the Frankish Kingdom. The Goth counts and the Franks started to besiege Narbonne. Miló left the city toward Trausse, near Caunes, awaiting the result of the struggle. The Muslim troop resisted for about seven years. Narbonne capitulated in 759 and then the Frankish granted the county to Miló. He was last known to have lived in 782.
