Trausse
HIKING & BUSH WALKING

Use our Trausse houses as a base to explore the region. From the village itself there are 5 walks that go either into the foothills of the Montagnes Noire or through the vineyards of the Minervois. Depending on the time of year one can enjoy wonderful fresh fruit along the way.

Within 30 minutes by car over 50 other mountain or Canal du Midi walks can be taken. A majority are sign posted and maps are available locally or can be obtained in the houses.

The walks are from moderate to hard but not difficult & can be from 3 hours to 6 hours. Things to see include views to the mediterranean, ancient 10-14th century churches in hidden valleys, forests of pine, ash & beech as well as prehistoric ruins – we have even seen red squirrels & deer.
